picture of the day...

i didn't take a picture of today. this happens a lot on work days. they are so busy... i hardly even check my phone! stays in my bag all day...

it would be tough to pick today:

1. Hannah in her snow gear.
Hannah and I go out to play every afternoon. It's just part of the day. This is hard for her to understand on a rainy day! So we got her dressed in her snow gear (perhaps a bit much, but hey, we are from California, and cold weather is scary) and went out for our walk... though she has a tough time walking in those big snow boots.

2. Out on a walk.
Hannah and I took off in her little car: giant umbrella, hats, and jackets for our rainy day walk. Even the turtles seemed to be inside somewhere! But it was fun to be out, and she seemed to know that it was special.

3. Glee.
I hear about Glee every week! Have never seen an episode. Until tonight. If we were to start watching any night, tonight would be the night... they did an awesome tribute to Madonna. We didn't know if we should be laugh, be fascinated, sing along? It's definitely an interesting show, different than anything I've ever seen, but like a combination of many things I've seen before. The highlight? Hannah was still awake (not sure how, but she was!) and was TOTALLY shaking her bootie during all the Madonna songs!! The girl loves to dance! Especially in her jammies!

See why it's hard to decide?
Looking forward to tomorrow's picture of the day already.

Easter at the Nourses!

Easter is my favorite. Nothing makes me more jubilant than singing "Jesus Christ is risen today!" on Easter morning... every day should be like that. But Easter is special, it just is. Especially after the Good Friday service, reflecting on Christ's sacrifice on the cross, I am so ready for Sunday morning at the end of Holy Week! I am pumped up, knowing that Christ died to redeem me from sin, but even more importantly that He is RISEN, RISEN INDEED!!!

It's important to remember that "It's Friday. But Sunday's comin'". Perhaps you've heard that famous sermon by Tony Campolo. Watch this video... it's a great reminder of what Easter is really all about!

In the meantime, we've got all kinds of festivities planned: Easter Egg Hunts galore!
Here's what's going on with the Nourses for Easter 2010:

Friday:

-Easter Egg Hunt: Laguna Hills Community Center 9:30-11:30 (sponsored by Compass Bible Church)
-Our church is hosting a "Stations of the Cross" Reflection service at Oak Creek Park in Irvine, from 10am to 4pm. Find more information on the church website or download the audio here
It's free. It's important.
-Good Friday Service is at 7pm.
-It's Friday. Sunday's comin'.

Saturday:
-Easter Eggstravaganza at Oak Creek Park with VCI. 10am.
-I will be dying Easter eggs of all colors! marthastewart.com had 62 ideas... so hard to choose!
-I hope to find "it's the Great Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown!"(forgot to order it...saved money, I guess!)
-Food prep

Sunday:
HE IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED!!
Easter service. 8:15
Brunch at our house. 10:30.
Hannah hunts for eggs again!

Well, I've done it, I've finally gone and shared the blog!

One of my favorite short stories in college was called "El Museo de los Esfuerzos InĂștiles" or, "The Museum of Useless Efforts". The protagonist tells you (in great detail!)all about her job managing this museum full of all the useless efforts or pointless things known to man,how they are categorized, her friend's promotion, etc and I loved the irony of it, because you are left to wonder if what they are doing really matters at all?

I felt this way about blogging for a long time. I didn't really know what to write about and who would read it anyway... it seemed like a lot of effort, for something that didn't really need to be done, so why do it?
Until Hannah. I've pondered many things in my heart since becoming a mother... there was so much happening each day that I just wanted to get down on paper (or somewhere, anywhere) to remember it, and to share with others at the same time. Writing became much more natural again, probably because I stopped writing as if someone were going to grade it! Sometimes it's poignant or insightful, many times it's a milestone that's worth recognizing, and really, most of the time it's something that really cracks me up, or makes me happy. Now blogging seems like the perfect outlet, if only I were to keep up with it more! I'm getting better. I've been at practice for a few months, actually. It was much easier to write because no one was reading it, really. I've learned to use Bluetooth technology to upload the pictures to the entry instead of waiting to download to the computer. I've also hooked up my Flickr account (should be on the right) so you can see my photo diary... because even if I don't update the blog I do usually take a picture of the day! Most of this technology i now possible because Micah introduced me to the real world of Blackberry (I'm so hooked now, thanks honey!)

So, welcome friends and family, to whatever slice of life I'm sharing for the day. I'm happy that you are a part of it!
